Paul Tudor Jones is an American businessman who founded Tudor Investment Company and the Robin Hood Foundation. The company is a private asset management company and hedge fund located in Greenwich, Connecticut whereas the foundation focuses on poverty education. Jones is known as a top philanthropist in the United States.
Jones grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and went on to graduate from the University of Virginia. He began working for E. F. Hutton & Co. as a trading floor clerk eventually moving up to a broker. He briefly thought about attending Harvard Business School after receiving his acceptance letter but ultimately ruled against it. In 1980, Jones founded Tudor Investment Company.
Jones is a big time philanthropist. His philanthropic organization, Robin Hood Foundation is backed primarily by other hedge funds. He also founded and is currently the chairman of the board of the Excellence Charter School located in Brooklyn, New York. He has made numerous donations to the University of Virginia including a $35 million donation to the school for their basketball facility.
